It might seem so but that is part of the fun in owning a boat of your own. No need to stock the boat full right at first as you will learn. The key is to find the right boat for your needs, be sure it is equipped adequately for safety and basis needs then add as you go. My boat is a KW BR 230 and it fits my needs perfectly. I choice the KW because I had an older model before and I liked it so much I purchased another. This one is larger and more refined. I primarily fish in Charlotte. I have also owned a sailboat and sailed Lake Michigan for years.
Good luck and there are plenty of people that will be glad to help you.

Thank you for your information and where to find KY boats. Boat World in Lake Placid, was the only place we could find that had them. We are still researching as there is so much we need to outfit the boat for the ocean, it's overwhelming. Maria

Hi Jerry, would you recommend the KY boats over the Robalo, Everglades, Islamorada Morada, as far as dependability? Also if something does happen and the boat needs warranty work without a trailer (because I don't think our Jeep Sahara even with the heavy tow package could pull the boat) how would we get the boat repaired. We will be moving to the keys. As far as I could see there are not any boat dealers that sell KY boats here unless I am mistaken. Thank you for your time and trouble, Maria

    Hi Frank,
I tried to give you a detailed answer to your questions but this part of the forum limits the response to 1000 characters. That is not enough to give you good answers. You can email me at jerryclaybrook@tds.net or even call me at 920-860-1545. I have cabin fever anyway so plenty of time.

Jerry, Frank Schultz (Appleman) here. You gave me some good info to a question on THT bay boat vs. CC I posted a while ago. At the boat show today, my hands-on look matched my internet research, really liked the Key West 210 BR. Would you mind sharing your reasons for choosing the KW? Sea Hunt BX also looked nice, as did some of the higher priced models. Besides Charlotte Harbor area, we are sort of neighbors up north too. I live in the UP, not far from BaysdeNoc, fish both Lake Mi. and Superior. Have also fished Algoma, Kewaunee, Door County. Anyway, will likely buy new (unless the perfect used comes along), welcome any suggestions as to jackplate, power pole. Will definitely be getting MinnKota. I have a RR trestle to go under, so will be limited to bimini. thanks so much, Frank Schultz

Sure, I think I have mine sold, but it is a great size boat for bays in my opinion. I feel safe and it does anything I need. I don't consider the 196 an offshore boat at all.

Thanks Jerry but I'm looking for something smaller. The 1520 or 1720 range. I have an off shore boat, just need a smaller boat for the shallows/bay days.
