hey Casey, i have an issue i was told you may be able to help with

i recently bought a 2009 YF 32 with 2009 300 Verados, last weekend we got a low voltage alert offshore, i parralled the port battery and came home to test the batteries and get a spare. new battery didnt last long and we had the same problem.

sooo i know that the port motor is not charging and im going to put new alternators in both motors, but after a post i put in the Gulf COast section on here Tiretyme sent me a bulletin about Verado 300's needing bigger battery cables and Group 31 batteries.......

well i have 4 group 27 blue top Optimas 2 of which are new, do i need to put the group 27's in my bay boat and switch to group 31's or will i be ok with the set-up that has seemed to work on this boat for the last 900hrs????

    thanks for your help

Hello Dave, I have a question for you. I currently have 2003 Yamahas F225's that have corroded....I am now thinking about re-powering with 250 Mercury Verados. I am looking for a used pair. If I do find a pair without any rigging. How much should I expect to spend on a new control steering set up, harness and smartcraft gauges?

    davidwademarine,

I would appreciate any thoughts you have on a used boat purchase I am in the process of.
Boat is a 2005 Whaler Conquest 305 with the original Verado 250's 1100hrs.
I've always been a Merc guy, & one of the reasons I am buying the boat is these motors instead of something with the same age Yamahas.
They have the original lowers. I have heard this is a weak point & am wondering if Mercury will do anything to help if I want to upgrade to the HD units.
If not, is there an exchange to swap out the old for new ones?
Boat & motors are getting a survey at the end of the month.
Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Motors are running Mirage 15" props.
    Here's the serial #s

Thanks in advance for your time.

I want to repower a 25 Hydrasport. CC. What would a pair of the 150 four stroke Mercurys cost complete with gauges and wire harness?

David, could you give me some insight on your thoughts on putting a 300XS Opti, 300Verado Pro or even the new 350 Verado if they let me, on a 22Sterling. This will honestly be a bar hopper and spear fishing boat.. I want to get the most out of my boat when it comes to speed and I am considering flashing my ECU if I were to go ahead with a 300VeradoPro. The Opti I would most likely leave stock.

One more question... Is there a SportMaster styled LU (not that fat beefy one at the show) for the VeradoPro/Verado? I know there is one for the 300XS Optimax.

How does the Mercury 150 four stroke compare to the Yamaha SHO with low water pick up and the power to get up in shallow water? This boat is being custom built to run shallow.

David I am repowering my 18' Famous Craft, 900lb dry hull weight.

I have boiled it down to either the new Yamaha or Mercury 4 stroke 115hp.
My local Yamaha dealer said those new 115 Mercs are blowing motrs up cause they are trying to get too much horsepower out of those engines!
What have you seen so far with "on the water" results from the Mercs?

I would appreciate some input from you. I am considering a lightly used Z2400 Shearwater with a 300 Verado. 170 hrs. It was lift kept and I will get the boat surveyed. I am coming from a Yamaha F150 and am new to verados . Any inherant problems with the 08 300 verado ? I only remember some issues with lower units on some verados. Can you give me any insight ? Thanks in advance.
