For the Talica 25 reels, I would build a pair of custom stand up rods..... either 6' or 6'6" that could handle that heavy braided line. I would use the hard slick butt with a nice X-Grip foregrip. For the guides, we should use the best Fuji Silicon Carbides to hold up to the braided line.
I would think a rod in the 6'3 range would be a great multi purpose rod that would fit that reel great.

Brian, I recently purchased two sailfish spinners from you, I can't wait to use them! In fact I like them so much, I am considering two new rods for a couple conventional reels I just acquired. I purchased two Shimano Talica II 25's. I know these reels can be used for pitching baits, jigging and trolling. My question is what type of rod would you recommend for a reel this versatile? On average we will be trolling these reels for Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo etc. On occasion we would jig or pitch to tuna with it, but trolling would be primary use. Reel has 80lb. Power pro with 100 lb. top shot

    What do you think?
