Hi Osprey, I think the 70 would be fine. 100 lbs is a LOT on a Whaler. My Whaler did ok with a 60 4 st, a 70 4 st would have been better. I don’t think I would put a 90 4 st on a Whaler.
Whalers are wet boats, I would be Leary of an extra 100 lbs back there...

    Good luck, Bill

Im thinking of repowering my 1993 17 montauk with Yamaha f90 4stroke, weight 353. Do you think that is a better choice then 70 hp at 253 lbs.

It will be mostly me in the boat alone 85 percent of time

    Thanks

    Osprey

Please help get THT to do the honorable thing and delete a retracted false remarks. PLEASE help ? Who can I appeal to remove the original thread that has been retracted?
