Good morning: That is a great idea replacing zippers and vinyl. How much did you have to invest in materials and equipment. I am on Long Island and now work in a seasonal business. Tons of boats here! Lots of down time from now till Spring, looking for something to keep me busy. Any and all advice appreciated! Unless your on Long Island and you don't want any more competition lol.

Andy, there's an owners club -- silvertonclub.com -- and there might be an owner near you who could offer pointers. And then you'll need to fix stuff over time, too, so you'll likely want insight into parts, maintenance, repairs, and so forth. Inexpensive.

    Hi Everyone,

If all goes well with my survey, I may be the new owner of a 31' Silverton. I know it is a lot of boat for a new boater, but I really want to get started on the right foot.

How did you twin screw boaters out there learn basic handling? I'm assuming it would be best to have a mentor with me to begin with. I have taken a boaters safety course, and will be taking the power squadron course this winter, but I'd like some specific operational insight.

    Thanks!
