Robert, I added the second battery to the starboard compartment. I ran 8 guage stranded wire from the battery switch to a Blue Seas fuse block under the console. Both batteries were connected to a battery switch. The second battery had a 50 amp breaker installed near the battery box. It's not a hard installation to do yourself, I;m a DIY guy myself and did all kind of things to the boat. Send me an email address and I'll send you pictures of the battery add project. My name is Robert. I am not a regular on this forum but do use it from time to time to get ideas - it has served me very well in that regard. I ran across your profile doing while searching for ideas on my Maycraft 1900. Do you still have that boat? I need to install a second battery and debating on whether to do it myself or pay to have it done. I'm a do it yourself kind of person and have built lots of stuff but not much wiring. I'm comfortable with wood and fiberglass but electronics intimidate me. I have also seen various opinions on installing one or both batteries in the console vs. the starboard compartment. As I move forward I would like to ask you some more specific questions, if you don't mind.

By the way, I live on the Gulf Coast near Mobile, AL. Where are you in NJ? I'm not very familiar with you state, but a good friend of mine is up there doing bobwhite quail research in the pine barrens.
