For eight years now Iíve been dodge my wife question,"How much money youíve spent on that boat so far?" Iím starting to get a little nervous because I donít think Iíll be able to dodge her question much longer now because she has started to ask the question twice a day.

Life has a funny way of getting in the way of things. One of the things I didn't anticipate, after I retired, was that I would have a lot of time on my hands to think. The more I thought, the more I drank. The more I drank, the more I became a real asshole to my family, to the point that I became a guest of the county for 16 days. Three years later, lots of counseling and even more grieving for the friends I've lost, I'm doing better. That my family stuck by me is a testament to how great they are. I actually just updated my thread tonight, and I'm sure I'll catch some crap from someone for resurrecting an old post, but screw 'em. The trailer is getting a new axle and wheels/tires, because the 6.50-10 tire is no longer available and I just don't feel safe trailering the boat, until I get the new axle.

I was just about to go to your thread and see how you've come along with your resto, when I saw the bell was lit red.

I hope you and your family are well.

Thank you for taking the time to view my thread. I've always had a passion for old wooden boats. I look forward to bringing this beautiful, one of a kind, classic, 28 feet offshore sport-fisher back to life again. This boat here screams, "Southern Comfort". 90% of her usage will be for slow evening cruising. With a boat like this no one would dare raise the throttle up to a point where you can't catch a glimpse of the Ol Gal as she passes by. I hope you are enjoying the thread. Feel free to leave comments and even post pictures of your boat that you are rebuilding or have rebuilt on my thread. My wife always ask me why does a boat owner spend so many hours, days, weeks, months, and sometimes years working on a boat to only enjoy it for a couple of hours at a time? I hold my breath and smile while the sweat drips of my face as I continue to work. Not being rude but I intentionally don't give an answer, because only a mariner will ever understand the love that he has for his boat.
