Hey guys,
I've been looking at the 28 for some months now, I would really be able to sea trial one. I'm from the Raleigh area in NC. Didn't know if you guys knew a dealer that has one and does demo's our maybe a proud owner that maybe one day could take me for a test ride. Thanks for all your help.

Call Fred or Matt at Webb's Fiberglass in Rocky Mount. They are great to deal with and will treat you right. Phone number is 252-446-1821. Check the website to see if they have a 28 available.

the factory is only 2 hours south of you. if i were so close, i surely would take a trip there to see the build quality for myself. im sure they can assist in a good dealer with a demo boat to ride.

Since some of you guys have or know of people that have had first hand experience with the 28 freedom. Could you let me know the major pros and cons. I've done my research but everyone has their own opinion? Thanks again for the help!!

I own a 2004 28 Freedom, with F225's. I love this boat and there are only two things I would change. 1) Additional livewell in the transom, and 2) F250's instead of F225's. Great riding boat and built like a tank. I am either repowering with F250's are going with a new one alltogether this winter.

Call David, the owner of Water World in Durham. I have purchased from them and they do a great job. He sold a 28 just a couple of months ago. David's number is 919-596-8185.

Shrug,
I have an 06' Freedom 28 and love it!!! However, I will agree with DAWG on the motors and livewell motors; twin 250's or maybe 300's
(I am unsure of weight rating etc) an additional livewell in the transom would be great or maybe even a gas shock on the lid of the
current livewell so my head and arm don't slam into it in 5' seas. I have twin 250's and wot reach about 53mph with three adult males
and full tank of fuel. My friend has an 05' Freedom 28 with twin 225's he gets low to mid 40's wot and I know he would prefer 250's.
The only additional items I wish the boat had are very very minor like larger rod lockers 7' instead of 6' larger anchor locker and more
cup holders I am also strongly considering forward seating but some of these things are more family oriented and not hard core fishing related.
I must say I am very happy with the overall quality, ride and safety of the boat not to mention all the great support and suggestions on The Hull Truth.
Just my thoughts I hope it helps. Steve

sswilson, I solved my problem with not having a gas shock on the livewell lid. I bought one of those small stainless steel hooks from boaters world. Not sure what it's for but it has two holes for screws and then a little hook sticking up. I removed the latch on the lid, put the hook down first and matched the screw hole with the hook and the latch and put the screws back in the existing holes. Bought a piece of that small black bungee that boaters world sells and made a loop on one end and tied the other end to the frame of the back rest on the leaning post. When your getting bait just slide the loop over the hook. Works like a champ. I don't know if that made any sense but I tried. I agree also on the rod lockeres. Could of been a few inches longer for me.

shrug, there is a yellow 28 Freedom with twin F250's at Custom Marine in New Bern. The boat was apparently fished once or twice and is for sale b/c the owner is fishing the FLW and needed to get a boat that would win a bigger purse. Fully loaded with electronics and is a absolutely beautiful boat. Been there a while now and I feel sure the boat will run you less than $100k. If I could afford it, it would already be gone.

Are there any pros and cons for the t-top (hard or soft)?
I have noticed the center console is different on the 06', what year did they change it?
Thanks!!

I live right behind where that boat is in New Bern and of course they know me well out there(don't tell the wife, lol). If you need any specific pictures or information, let me know.

I test rode one with Saltwater Marine....befween Carolina and Wrightsville. Nice boat and handled real well. It was my final choice in a mono hull.

I work for Baywood Marina in Brick, NJ. We have a leftover with a pair of Yamaha 300's White hull and a T Top.....You really owe it to your self to go with bigger power that makes a difference. Our page is www.baywoodmarina.com.

I doubt those 300's would add much to the very stout Suzuki 250's considering the props that the suzukis turn and the 300 HPDI's supposedly dont put out 300hp. Fortunately they have worked out the bugs on them and they are reliable I hear. You might want to check the forum rules on advertising.
