Default Pink spots on vinyl

I have pink spots showing up all over my coaming pads and seat cushions on my 2007 Freedom 24. I have been unable to remove them with vinyl cleaner or any other product I have tried. Has anyone else had this problem and were you able to remove these spots?

It is mold and it's almost impossible to get rid of. Contact McKee and get new skins or cushions

Should this be covered under the warranty? My dealer is saying that vinyl is not covered by any boat company...

I had a few places like that. Cleaned all the vinyl with Dawn and magic eraser where needed. Then on the pink spots, just left some dawn on those in the sunlight. Can't explain it but the spots were gone the next day. Keeping that vinyl from mildew type spots and a few of the pink ones has been a chore.

I don't think it's mildew. I had similar stains on my cushions from my guest's suntan lotion and other pigments, like those fake tatoos kids like to put on. At any rate, I always found the Magic Eraser to work pretty well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I got some Dawn and Magic Erasers and will give that a try today.

I had the same problem on my boat. called and talked to Scott at McKee craft and he said it was a reaction from something they spray on the foam before they cover it. they warranted my seats for me. he told me that you have a one year warranty on the seats. give him a call the phone# 910 628 0926 (Scott) super nice guy and he helped me out alot. hope this helps

I think I will have to go that route as the Dawn and Magic Erasers didn't help.

I have the same problems of pink spots on several spots on the vinyl covering cushions on a 22' McKee that is about 18 months old. Not a big problem but it does look bad.

I also heard these pink spots are a mold (mildew). My SailFish had the same thing ... except they covered it under warranty. I think the dealer said SailFish had gone to a better quality vinyl that prevented the mold from growing. Nothing I tried would take it out.

The better vinyl has been treated with a fungicide to help prevent the mold which forms in most unprotected vinyl at some point. The Mold/fungus forms from the inside out of the vinyl and is mostly always pink in color.

I have them too!! Glad to see other McKee's have the same issue. Weird thing its only in one area on the whole boat...

Noticed spots about Christmas time 07, bought boat June 07, so its out of one year warranty but if the magic eraser and dawn doesn't' work I will contact McKee as this is not an isolated problem only on my boat...

Had these on my Whaler twice, no cure but to replace the bolsters.
