Default help with b260th/garmin system

Guys,
I need some help with my system. I have an airmar b260th hooked up to a garmin 7610xsv and 8212. Recently I noticed I was unable to find my b260 on the sonar setup menu, but it had worked fine up until then. Everything else shows up in the device list/network. What could be the most common causes for this? Its connected through a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter box. Can the adapter boxes go bad? I know I have some slight corrosion on my battery terminals which Ill be taking care of today. Could that cause this? Thanks in advance for any help!!

Sounds like a bad connection in the splice box or somewhere between the unit and transducer. I would look for breaks in the wiring or possibly weak connections in the splice box. Its never a bad idea to download the latest software for Garmin either. Every now and then software is the most simple solution.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I recently updated the software, so its the latest version. Is there a way to check if the adapter box is working correctly? I opened the back, it appears all the wires are securely in the terminals. I'm also hoping the transducer isn't fried from operating while out of the water. I wasn't even aware that was a possibility until reading about it recently. Thanks again!

Usually when they fry the exterior surface will be wavy or warped. If the boat is in the water just jump in and feel for it. You can also put your head down there by it to see if you can here it clicking.

Ok, so I figured out the transducer appears to be working, but it does not automatically show up when Im searching the menu for changing the sonar source. I have to go to change transducer model, then select it, then it starts showing on my screens. It should show up in that menu, correct? The problem now is, it won't let me show the b260 and the gt51 at the same time. If i choose the b260, it changes all my sonar views to that transducer, and vice versa for the gt51tm. I would like to be able to show the b260 on one view, with the gt51 on split screen. I know you're supposedly able to show both simultaneously, but cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks again for the help!

If I remember correctly from a similar setup I looked at to yours there are some limitations with taking the Bare wire B260 and a GT51 transducer into a unit and displaying them on a split screen. I do not remember the details of this but I know I reached out to Garmins tech support at the time and they were very helpful. I would ring Garmin on this and see what the details of limitations are on this or if they still apply.

Chris,
Just to update, thanks to member Chainsaw on here, it was found to be a bad temp sensor in the B260. Jumped the wires in the adapter box, now Im able to see both simultaneously again. I just won't have the temp option in the b260 anymore. Evidently, this seems to be a fairly common issue with the temp sensors going bad. Thanks again for your assistance.
