Hi folks - newbie here. Can you help me with some insights on the complexities OR the simpleness of adding a 2nd screen. What I'm looking at is adding another display for a Garmin 7612. The purpose of the 2nd display is primarily to have a screen dedicated to radar, and the original screen for everything else. The 2nd display would be mounted at the helm, next to the existing display.
To help me understand, is this as simple as adding another monitor for my laptop? Where the 2nd screen is simply plugging into the main guts of the electronics system?
I believe the 2nd display would need to have touch screen - to page through the radar menus as needed, zoom in/out, etc.
Is the main expense already incurred with the primary system, and adding a 2nd screen is a relatively inexpensive addition? Or does the 2nd display involve a lot of process and cost?
Thanks!
EDIT: moving this over to the marine elec forum, thx

You would need to purchase another 7612 screen and network the two screens together with Ethernet and preferably NMEA2000 as well.

Please send me a PM with a good email address that we can send you a quote to. Also if you include details of the boat and install preferences that will help us get a little more of an accurate estimate.
