Default Two smaller displays or one large one?

the prices for large displays seem pretty high?

An axiom 12 @$4000 with transducer vs an axiom 9 with transducer @ $2000 and another axiom 9 without transducer @$1299 networked together.

first, I cant imagine why it would cost an extra $2000 to make a 12” vs a 9”.

I went the two 9” route. In my mind I......

A.). saved $700
B.) have more useable screen I can have a 9” chart up with a 9” radar or sonar.
C.) have redundancy.

Thoughts?

I thought about going with a 16 in screen when redoing my Hydrasports, but landed on 2 12 in screens. Glad I did for all the reasons you mentioned plus it filled up more space on my dash.

Be careful with the 9" Axiom... it is very low resolution compared to other brands 9" screen. I found out the expensive way...

As an example;

Axiom 9 800x480 resolution
Lowrance 9 Carbon 1280x720 resolution

Axiom 12 1280x800 resolution

So on the Axiom9 you don't get as much chart as you do on the competition. The competition's 9 shows almost as much as the Axiom12, albeit smaller pixel size.

I prefer two screens over one big one, however in the case of the Axiom9 that does not hold true.

Yes true. OP was referencing Axiom 9 tho and not Axiom 9 Pro.

If you can swing 2x Axiom 9 Pro, that would be ideal.

Don't get me wrong, I like Raymarine stuff. Just not the basic Axiom 9.

FWIW, I have 2 Axiom 9's, and have been happy with the resolution and amount of detail you can fit on the screen. I was aware of the resolution when I purchased them, and that was a bit of a concern in my purchase/selection, but in the end I have no complaints.

I have a 16” Simrad Eco 2. It’s cool but kinda like standing right in front of your TV. Two smaller screens seems easier to manage data and quickly reference. I can put 4 “windows” of data on mine but in the sun and movement it’s still easier on separate screens.

The big screen is great for chirp tho, boy!
