Default Garmin 3210 replacement

Our Garmin 3210 was damaged by driving rain during the hurricane. The insurane co. wants to replace it with a Garmin 1040XS. Not sure this is is a good deal or not. Do they still make the 1040 XS? I hear they might be the best unit for the buck. All comments appreciated.

The 1040xs is way better than the 3210, so that is an upgrade for sure. But the 1040XS is now discontinued, can you get a cash settlement from the insurance company and add a little to get a unit more current for better support down the road?

I replaced my 3210 with a 7610xsv. Upgraded to a chirp transducer with side scan and downview. That itself was a huge upgrade compared to the 3210.

Depends on what you primarily use the MFD for ? do you need anything else now or down the road like radar ? Of course budget drives the model as well.

You can get a Garmin 7610 XSV for that now, that is a super good machine. The GPS store has them for 2K and I bet the vendors on this forum can match that holiday price as well.
