Hummingbird Onix10

Bought a boat with HB ONIX10 mounted next to Garmin 7610 and a 740s.
The HB only flickered when you tried to power it up when I bought the boat. I combed through the wiring last weekend and viola, it now works. It has a nice suite of features, but I am having a hard time finding any good information, as it is a discontinued unit. (unit was new in 14).
The transducer is not present, and from what I read, it appears to be a 500 watt internal chirp unit. Are there any transducers that will plug an play with this unit that are not HB?
The maps on this unit are first rate, Navitronics platinum +, gulf coast.

Humminbird Owners Manuals

You can get a Mix and Match Adaptor cable from Airmar that will connect to Humminbird products.

Airmar Adaptor Cables

As far as I know, the only side imaging (combo) transducer that will work with your Onix without the sonar module is the XM 14 74 MSI T from Humminbird.

The ONIX was a problematic unit, but when they work, they work well.

Thanks, this unit has a fabulous display. I will probably end up using it for nav. Not all that interested in down vue/side vue. I had a gt51tm on my 7608 on my last boat, the stuff does not work that great in deeper offshore waters. I did get some pretty good shots of a rig derrick that was reefed in 100' with it.
The traditional chirp on the 51 was great to @ 400' though.

Doc,
How about the gps coordinates format? I could not get it to recognize my chip loaded with my Garmin GPX. #'s/

You can use Humminbird PC, which is a free download from their site. It's not fully compatible with the ONIX series, so you need to mess around a little. But it will do the initial conversion. You will lose your icons and groups if you try to use Humminbird PC with data that you download from your Onix. If you change the icons from the generic blue dot to anything else on your ONIX, they will be converted back to the blue dots by Humminbird PC.

Humminbird PC

Put your Garmin coordinates on an SD card and download them in Humminbird PC. Once you see your GPX data in Humminbird PC, you can upload it back to the SD card choosing to overwrite the existing data. It should then be in the correct format to be imported to your ONIX.
