Default Another Transducer Question

Just installed a Garmin 2006C with the GSD 20 sounder connected to the Airmar P79 shoot thru 'ducer. Problem is I see a blank screen instead of marking the bottom, fish, etc. Makes no difference if moving or sitting still, 10' or 50' feet of water.

Called up Garmin, went thru several things, all OK. The guy asks me can I feel the pulses sent out by the 'ducer if I lay my hand on top of it. Could not feel a thing. This is my first in-hull, so I had never touched a 'ducer while it was operating. Seems rather odd that you could feel the electrical pulses.

Anyone able to shed any light on this? Can you really feel the pulses being sent out if you touch the transducer while it is operating?

The tech thinks I have a defective 'ducer, so they are fed-exing me a replacement. Good service! I guess I'll know soon enough.

Default Another Transducer Question

Hand on BOTTOM of trasducer to feel pulses, sometimes the klicking can be heard. All that means is the sounder is sending teh pulses. The transducer and display still have to process the return signal.
