Default Multiple transducers

GO9 with Totalscan installed in custom made bracket off of jack plate. Like many others, bottom is lost when on plane.

I really only want to see depth when on plane. Will the GO9 recognize a P79 NMEA2K and the Totalscan transducer? Or is there a better option?

My guess is the P79 for N2K will only show you depth, as in just a number.

As stated above P79 N2k will only provide digital depth.

I have 3 transducers installed. First was totalscan, same issue, lost bottom at different speeds. I installed a P79 for depth - awesome. Never lost depth at any speed in any condition.

i then installed a hdi 50/200/455/800 - excellent reading of bottom at any speed, heaps better than totalscan for my purpose. I have now moved totalscan to be used at slow speed for sidescan only.

To put in context though - i have p79 direct to go 7 xse, which is used for engine data + depth.

then two hds gen 3. Hdi set up on main sounder side. Totalscan on otherside and set to off.

p79 and hdi on opposite sides of boat - havent seen or experienced any interference.

cheers Adam

As long as they are all set to different frequencies, you can have as many transducers as you like and they won’t interfere

This is one of many reasons why a HDS (Gen3 and Carbon) or NSS Evo's are better alternatives than GO XSE or Elite Ti. HDS and NSS Evo have two transducer connectors allowing for separate StructureScan and 2D transducers.

It's possible to get a bundle with a Y-adapter allowing HST-WSBL and LSS-2 to be connected to GO XSE and Elite Ti. I'm not sure if the Y-adapter is available seperatly or only sold together with the transducers.

I really appreciate the replies. Good information shared.

However, I still don’t know if I have the answer I need.

Here’s how I wish to operate:

When on plane, i’d like to be in chart mode with some instrument data (mph, rpm, etc.) and depth recognized from the P79 via NMEA2K.

When trolling, i’d like to be in sonar mode with data from Totalscan via plug directly into GO9.

Is this possible with a single GO9?

You can use the NMEA 2000 P79 (or any other Smart depth sensor) for depth numbers while running on plane , yes...and then use the Total Scan for trolling.

I have installed the P79 but am having trouble getting the GO9 to recognize it as a depth source.

When in chart art mode with instrument cluster to the right. I edit the instrument that I wish to change to depth but I can’t select the P79 source. the network is recognizing the P79.

What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SETUP>NETWORK>SOURCES from homepage
select depth and select your P79 instead of go9
