I have been using pre-paid cards from the UK. I now have an EU telephone number (+33) that is not accepted by some numbers but I still have the use of the phone for emergencies.
GlobalStar Pre-Paid Cards
Good luck,

I have a Inmarsat 2. I can buy prepaid for $100 for 100 minutes for 3 months. That's the best deal I've found.

Tell them you want to cancel, then insist on paying the same monthly payment and they will extend you for another year. At least they did for me. I was on the same plan as you.

I cancelled. A month later I got the 780 plan for 1/2 price. They know they screwed up but nothing is going to change until next year. I took the deal and if nothing happens next year I will cancel again.

This is also the best i've found for limited use plans. A year ago the minutes lasted 6mo tho, so inmasat also effectively doubled their prices.

This spring, I was advised by Globalstar that my 480 plan was going to be discontinued and the replacement plan would be considerably more expensive. Since my primary reason for having a sat phone was for emergencies, I opted to cancel my Globalstar subscription and I switched to a Garmin Inreach. In all fairness, Globalstar offered to reduce the price for 2018 and when I informed them I was still going to cancel (or to be precise, I was not going to renew) they offered to buy back my Globalstar phone. The buy back amount paid for more than half the purchase price of the Garmin Inreach and the Inreach rates are considerably lower than the previous (and no longer available) Globalstar 480 plan.
