Default Autopilot selection - Help!

I am a new member from Brazil. I am in the process of having my "dream boat " built, for long runs offshore. It is a fairly heavy (17600 Lbs) 34 ft flybridge fishing boat (Sedna 32), with twin Volvo D4-260 diesels connected to duoprop sterndrives by jackshafts. This boat is normally equipped with inboards, but my inlet is very shallow, requiring the use of sterndrives. This is requiring the builder to make a number of changes. One thing has us a bit stuck: I would like to install an autopilot, but have absolutely no experience with this piece of equipment. Since my electronics will be all Furuno and based on positive feedback from a search in the THT forums, the Navpilot 500 would be my first choice. Trouble is, Furuno is unable to tell for sure whether their autopilots can work with a Volvo sterndrive ... ;? strange as I would not have thought that the combination was that unusual. The builder has limited experience with sterndrives.
Can anyone with experience help? If the combination can be made to work, any tips? If it cannot, any other autopilot recommendations (Simrad? Raymarine?) that have worked well with the D4?
Thank you and best regards
