Default Furuno TZT2 12 just pulled the trigger and need chart info

Just ordered a TZT2 and need info on how the chart selection process works. Do I buy a chip with the chart area on it like I have with my older Raymarine classic C120?

Appears that there is a built in catalog of charts on the machine that I can just buy an unlock code for and download it from there?

Also need suggestions on a transducer. Mostly bottom fishing Gulf of Mexico to 150'. Couple times a year we fish the east coast of Florida and the Bahamas for pelagics so I will need temp.

Existing TD is a thru hull with a fairing block. Would like to just be able to pull this one out and replace with one that will fit the existing block.

Thanks in advance for information and suggestions

The charts that come with unit are good. You get both vector and raster in 2d and 3d. You can enhance them with depth shading overlay too. I haven't felt the need to purchase others. However I am in the Chesapeake Bay.

Bottom fishing the B260 will be king. I believe it works with rezboost, accufish and bottom discrimination too.

You have....Good charts that can be unlocked....

You current ducer looks like a B744 style....the replacement will be the same..so if your current ducer works...no need to change.

And as iFish correctly noted..the B260 is excellent for bottom fishing.. but will not fit into your current fairing.

Thanks for the info Gil. The current TD is for my old Ray C120. Will I need an adapter for the ten pin connection?

What is involved in unlocking the installed charts?

Do you have a VHF that will work with this for AIS?

If the ducer sonar portion is still in good working order you can use a Furuno pig tail: Air-033-333

Anyone with a TZT can contact their distributor ,pay the unlock fee.. and get an unlock code.
One will need to supply their system ID number.

Rodger,

Congrats!! You will love the fish finder. Touch where the fish are, select a symbol, and it puts a waypoint on your plotter. This is brilliant!

Do you examples of the charts you can purchase? I have been thinking about buying them but would like to see them first. Navionics allows you to view theirs and was curious if Furuno had something similar.

The unit comes with standard NOAA nautical charts in vector and raster format for free. There isn't much of a reason to pay for the other charts, unless you just want to see more depth curves (most of which are interpolated from the very same NOAA data). But the choice is yours whether you use the free charts or not.

x2, the built in charts are fine for us, we've fished both coasts of Florida with them. On the transducer thing, if you decide to keep your old transducer, which I think is a good idea to start, temp may or may not be accurate and speed will not work so don't use red and green. (Raymarine does something funny with temp sensor, the thermistor isn't the only thing wired to the brown wire). When you cut the end off the Raymarine end, take a multimeter to brown and white. Your resistance should be more or less inline with this chart:

TempVsResistChart.pdf

If it's not, you can do a temp button on the transom:
https://maxmarineelectronics.com/pro...og-thermister/

or you can do an insert in the transducer, but cross that bridge when you get there, if that's the route you're going to take.

Congrats on the TZT2 purchase, I have 2, love them

Thanks, I am going to go with the new transducer 525stid-msd.

Do the charts that come with the unit have the photos and such included?

Will this unit accept the waypoints on a card from my old C120?
