Default Fusion Stereo NMEA

I have a 700i head unit in my cockpit. This replaced a 600 series and I'm floored by all of the features.

I have purchased a wired remote that I plan to install this weekend. As my MFD's don't interface with the stereo I really don't want to bother with hooking into a raymarine backbone (isn't there something proprietary about their backbone anyhow?). My question is whether I need to install all of the backbone accessories that came with the remote or if I can just run an NMEA2000 cable between the head unit and wired remote and call it a day. Do I need inline terminators and such to make this work if I only want the head unit and wired remote to talk to each other and nothing else?

The second question is regarding ethernet and the 700i. I am going to run an ethernet cable to a wifi router to allow the use of the fusion link app on my phone. Is there anything else I need to know about getting fusion link to work?

yes. you need the terminators and tees. you shouldn't need power. the deck should power the network.

You'll need to make sure you "turn on" the n2k power in the menu on the deck. Otherwise you'll bang your head against the wall.

Following this thread. I have a UD-750 and I'm interested in your WiFi setup, as I'm considering the same.
