Default Garmin GSD 20 Battery?

Sent a GSD 20 back to Garmin after my 3010c frequently told me that I'd lost sonar service. Garmin said that they couldn't find anything wrong with the GSD 20 but they sent me a new one anyway. The service report that was returned with the new GSD 20 says in part:

"Unit meets operational performance specifications. Exchanged unit from S/N xxxxxxxx to S/N xxxxxxxx. Unit was shipped with a partially charged battery. Please restore user profile/database and allow it to charge for 3 hours before use. "

So the GSD 20 has it's own internal battery? If so, how do you charge it before use? ;?

Have you tried updating the software. I had a similar problem with the 2006c. Garmin sent software free.

Yes. All of the software is the latest version. Hopefully the new GSD 20 will solve the problem. I didn't know there was a battery in the GSD 20. Nothing in the Garmin instructions that I have read mentions a battery.
