Default 36 Invincible or steped hull wide-chirp

Finally getting around to putting our deposit down on the new Lead Change, a 36 Invincible but am stuck on one option... transducer. The stock answer is to stick with a big in-hull like an R599 but I need wide-chirp which isn't available in an in-hull.

Has anyone ever successfully done a small thru-hull like the B175 or a larger tank-mount in an Invincible? I'm not against doing some custom glass work so long as it doesn't create too much disruption in the bottom or void any hull warrantee. After fishing a B275HLW in my last boat I'm hooked on the wide format for trolling.

If you just want to use it trolling mount it in the bilge and use the r599 for running?

M285HW is a 1kw chirp wide beam in hull. There are numerous 2kw pocket mount models to choose from that can "smoother" on the hull than a B175 low profile.

Yeah just trolling for Marlin, Mahi, and HS Wahoo. If I'm bottom fishing or deep dropping I'm going to be using the 599.

I missed the M285 on the Airmar site, is that a high enough performance unit to consider? I'm not an Airmar expert but does it have the same elements as the larger units? The HW unit would be the one I'm tournament fishing with so it has to be top notch. I'll be running it through a Simrad S5100 or Evo3 onboard depending on final setup.

There are no docs available on it. My guess is that its the same element as a B175HW, but i'm really not sure.
It is 25 degree beamwidth. 150-250 kHz frequency band. I don't know the price either.

I have had the b275lhw on my Yellowfin which was, mounted in front of the step from the factory. It was badass. On the Freeman, I had r599 lh and loved it as the running performance was off the charts. But I missed things about the 275 so I added a tm275lhw to it.
On the 42 I am building I am putting a r599lm and a 175hw. The Simrad S51000 allows 3 channels.Hopefully, it does everything I want!!
With the r599 stuff you need another ducer for temp readings.

That's the exact setup I want to do but can't get any good guidance on where to punch the 175 through... figured I'd get the fast response temp with it too. Just want to get some assurance before taking a hole saw to the boat.

I think your running picture will come from the R599 and the 175hw will work while bottom fishing. The steps on the boats are going to mess with it some in my case I believe unless I can get it in front of them on the other hull. My TM275 worked good for bottom fishing but any speed and it got washed out. I hope this helps.

So then you're back to using a dedicated temp sensor I assume? I had two transducers in my Ricky and had to bounce back and forth out deep to get temp and depth... it was a pain. Was going to put a dedicated sensor in on the next haul out.

I've been right next to the INV hull but never looked at it with a transducer in mind, I just assumed a thru-hull was a normal thing to do on them.

Wouldn't you want a narrow beam H chirp for bottom fishing?

Just call invincible. I imagine that you can put a flush mounted thru hull ducer midship in front of the steps and then run a r599 as well. The ducer in front of the steps is most common. Intrepid contender sea vee yellowfin all seem to run the flush ducers in front of the steps

I had good results with my 275 wide tranducers for Bottom fishing. Here is the b275lhw mounted on my yellowfin. Name: A9FFEE33-857D-4AD0-9526-A36A3215142B_zps3xh4zu2c.jpg

R599 and B175HW matched with a S5100 is a perfect combo. The B175 will need to be installed in front of the steps on the opposite side of the keel from the R599. That is a very routine procedure for Invincible.

I would have invincible make a pocket in front of first step for a CM599LHW. I have a 32ST I bought new but , was at a dealer, so I installed B175HW and B175L in front of first step. If I had the option to build at factory, I would have asked for pocket to be done for CM599. HW is same, but 599 low will blow away low on B175. If u search hogback i have pics uploaded showing marking fish at 1000 ft. 175 low will mark bottom up to 2,500ft but your not going to mark swords , get the CM599 if they will build pocket
