Default Battery Charger

I did a repower on my diesel 29 phoenix and decided to rewire as well. I have a 4 battery (6v batteries) house bank and 2 12v starting batteries.

The boat is slipped year round and I only use it on the weekends. No generator.

Currently has (to my best guess) the original Guest battery charger. There is also a promariner proisocharge smart charger.

Based on this information, what is the best charger for me? If you need anymore information, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jeff

the proisocharge is an alternator spliter. I've actually had quite a few issues with them.

is your guest a 3 bank? most are only 2. you probably want a 3 bank charger in the 40-60a range for that boat.

What issues did you have? I might be having one. ...

I'll check on the guest charger this weekend.

40-60 amps, what's wrong with the 1240p?

Thanks!!

To pick the right charger a little more information is needed.

First off, does your boat run off 12v or 24 volts or a combination of the two?

Are you running a single engine with the two starting batteries used as a single bank or do you have twin engines with each of the starting batteries a separate bank?

Are the house batteries wired as two 12 volt banks, one 24v bank or one 12v bank?

What size are the starting batteries and how many amp hours are the house batteries rated for?

How fast do you need to charge your batteries, over night or over a couple days?

Are your batteries standard lead acid or absorbed glass mat or do you have both kinds?

There are chargers for all these combinations.
