Half moon is talking about the tees in the backbone! Lowrance and Garmin are different tee angles but function the same way!

My general question on components is that while they all work with the data the same, and the connections are the same, the outside size/shape of the components is not the same - i.e. I had read one report where a fellow got different components that worked together, but he was exasperated because they would not lay flat for his install. A common manufacturer should make the install cleaner and easier. Which one is most commonly used?

The other component of my question is simply a price question .... :-)

Thanks!!
Been using this multiport from Garmin with success. Makes a clean thight install.

The NMEA2000 components that Semperfi posted above I believe are Maretron. I can confirm the Maretron micro “T” orientation is incompatible with Garmin. They will connect and relay data but the finished backbone will not lay flat when you try and mount it due to incompatible offsets. Moral of the story: when building your NMEA starter kit, stay consistent with the manufacturer of the NMEA2000 micro components

Best place to buy or best components? I agree with the same brand theory as not only can the orientation be off, the pin depth can be as well.

Maretron (Seems to be the supplier to Furuno)
Actisense

I prefer the ones with metal ends. I use these https://www.actisense.com/product/a2k-4wt/ They take up less space than a bunch of Ts. I have two under my helm. I used a 12" N2k Cable to join them (so not to put stress on them) and I put the resistors at the end. Works great for me.
