Default What model Northstar is this?

I am looking at a boat (on-line) and cannot identify the model of the GPS.
If anyone is using this model Northstar, I would appreciate some feedback. I am currently a Garmin user (7200 series) and have never used Northstar.

8000i. The truth hurts only once - these units suck big time. Why? Touchscreens are sensitive, horribly unreliable, and user interface is very difficult.

Good news is you should be able to use the radar with newer Simrad units (evo 1, 2, 3) and likewise adapt the transducer to work with those newer units. If on a budget, use it til it croaks or until you are so fed up with it you can't take it anymore and then upgrade. BOE is blowing out NSS16 EVO2 units for under $3k right now, so if you want to upgrade on the cheap now, that may be a good way to go.

Thanks for the feedback!
I have a spare 7215 as well as a 7212 Garmin. I never installed the Garmin GMR 1206 I purchased for the current boat, so I think I should just install my "old" stuff if I purchase the new boat. I love my old Garmin touch screens!

That's certainly another option if you have all of that stuff. You'll need a GSD24 with the 8 pin wire block adapter to connect the existing transducer into your Garmin equipment. If you want to sell the 8000i stuff, we're all ears. Congrats on the new ride.

Good luck with the new boat purchase. Sounds like you have a few options!

This would be my suggestion, it will also result in far less money out of pocket. Sell the gear to Max and get a GSD24 from him as well and you will hove some Christmas money.

I dont want to take over this thread but i have the Northstar 6100I 15" and would love to get rid of the delaminated screen, does the Simrad interface with the Radar and DSM or sounder module where i could replace the screen and not have the expense of replacing everything?

If so what would fill the hole of the 15"?

Thanks
