Default New electronics layout

Purchased (2) Garmin 840XS units with 2 different layout options in mind and want opinions on which one to do.

Option 1: Install one unit in the existing location and use the second unit in the second station

Option 2: Install both units in the console and move the radio to the storage bin under the hardtop and pick up a used 741xs for the second station. How much of a PIA is it to move the radio?

I mainly use the boat for inshore/inlet fishing, running offshore when seas permit and our annual family trip to the Keys.

Existing unit is a Garmin 5208

Going to the second station sounds good...then all you need is a network cable....and both will share all images and info.

the easiest would be to put the second unit on the bracket above the console. Moving the radio is top means running a lot of wires. I don't love overhead MFDs but if you can see it well while fishing off the back you may like it.

Best would be to cover the whole dash with new starboard, put noth displays in there. relocate the stereo and/or install a small wired remote for it on the dash.
