Why not just do 2 of the TZTLif it is for a cost savings. I think the differences between the two would drive me nutty going from one to the other.
The will share radar GPS and sounder but are not the same units

He hasn't used Furuno in many years, but as an older commercial fisherman.. he likes the brand. He's building a new boat and I think $$$ is a concern, relatively.

He said he wanted a 12" & a 6".

Maybe:

TZTL12F-NXT combo w/Radar
TZT9
GP330B
DFF1-UHD
B265LH
hub?

What am I missing?

There can be issues running a mixed system. I would recommend one or the other.

In my case I am running TZT BB and 14 on the bridge with a TZTL in the cockpit with a dedicated transducer. For my needs that was best set up but I will keep networks seperate.

They are both good systems. If budget is a factor TZTL will be more cost effective.

What issues are there running the TZT2 and the TZT? I have a TZT2 12” and want to add a second display. I don’t have room for another 12” so was going to go with a TZT9. I want to be able to share radar and sonar on each screen.

I have been on that forum for a while and never found a topic about issues with them working together. Can you send me the link to the topic? I had an Evo2 system before the Furuno and it drove me crazy with the updates. Features would disappear or stop working on some updates. Haven’t had that issue yet with the TXT2.

I am a Furuno fan and currently use the TZT2, 12kw radar. It was NOT more expensive than a similar Garmin or Simrad and I don't think "similar" is the right word. Neither Simrad or Garmin has anything equal to the 12KW Furuno radar(which was a priority for me). I had the idea that if I wanted to stay with Furuno, I was going to simply pay more and when it was all said and done, it was less expensive for my system to go Furuno versus the other 2 brands.

Did you add the DFF1-UHD and its B265LH and the DFF-3D and its B54? If you want chirp and down/side vision capabilities?

Default Another Idea

I had limited dash space and ended up with the TZT 9 and with the navnet-viewer or Navnet-remote we will run multiple I-pads when fishing and been very happy with the results.

My previous boat had two TZT2 15s at the main helm and a TZT9 on the tower that were installed when the TZT2 was first released. There were some issues in configuration wit the first software release for the TZT2 that required some care in the settings in a system that had a TZT also. Those problems are long gone having been fixed by the later software.

The TZT and TZT2 can coexist very well on a single network.

You are missing a PG700 heading sensor

Also, A friend has a TZT-15 and a TZT2-12 on his boat and it seems to work flawlessly. He hasnt spoken of any issues.

I plan on adding the used TZT-9 back to my boat and network it with my TZT2-12 as soon as the fall striped bass run is over. Currently on my boat I have a TZT2-12" and GP1870F. The only thing they share is data like depth and water temp. I typically use the GP1870F as my primary fish finder and TZT2 for primary navigation and radar.

Does this guy have both the DFF1-UHD and the DFF-3D both installed and networked? That is where my guy originally wanted to go with this setup. Due to additional costs and probable connectivity issues (as stated from dealers above), he moved on...If there had been a 9" unit and these technologies BUILT-IN to their head units (like all other brands) he probably would have gone with Furuno. Buy the mighty-dollar and and seamless integration were paramount.

Thank you to all who provided poignant replies and instant messages.
