Default Garmin blow out 840 xs

I see boe is blowing out garmin 840xs units.

Are they good units, say compared to the 741xs?

Do they allow user to select/program airmar transducers... Or are they only plug and play, receiving XID instructions from airmar transducers???

The 840xs units will be the same series unit as the 741xs just a larger screen. I have had an 840xs unit on my boat for a few years now. Solid unit with no issues yet. They seem to be pretty bullet proof and I personally like the button display on them. What transducer are you trying to connect to this unit?

+1 on the 840xs being a good unit. I've had one for a couple of years with no issues. Seems to be "just right" screen size for me and I too prefer the button interface vs. the touch screen. I actually just ordered a second one, although I paid a hair more than the BOE price.

i already have the 741xs and can not stand having just one screen. Will the 840 work as a chart plotter and allow my 741xs to run as a sounder? Also, been looking at the 741xs radar bundle, is it better to wait and just get a second 741 as part of the garmin radar bundle?

Not! The bigger difference is touch screen/no buttons (741) vs buttons/no touchscreen (840)

The 840xs will work as a chart plotter or sounder. This will also be compatible with Garmin radar as well. I would personally put an 840xs on the boat as it will be a larger display for better visibility.

They will be the same series unit as they are both the GPSMAP XS models. This series contains the 547xs, 741xs, 840xs, and 1040xs. The only unit that will be touchscreen out of this series is the 741xs. I did mention that I like the button display on them which will be one of the few differences in this series of units other than screen size.

Thanks chris - I will take some measurements to make sure it fits. there is only a few inches total play top and bottom on the 741.

Semperfifishing MARINE ELECTRONICS & TRANSDUCER SALES j
Just purchased 2 of them from him for 425.00 each.
Always wanted 2 but could not justify the price. But at this price you can’t beat it.
Great deal. Thanks.

What transducer should I purchase to make sure I get the most out of the unit if I order?

The GT23 is the best with this unit. Available separately. It does depend largely on your boat and type of fishing, but the GT23 is the most common.

If I use GSD26 on a 7610 xsv, can I share it at 840xs?
