Default Simrad autopilot pump help

Hello,

I have a Simrad RU160 autopilot pump and a sea star BA150 cylinder

The Simrad installation book states
" The flow rate must be chosen such that optimum automatic
steering is obtained.
Experience has shown that a rudder time between 10 and 15
seconds hard over to hard over normally gives the best steering
performance. In order to achieve a rudder time within these
limits, the flow rate must correspond with the cylinder volume.
Some boats will perform good automatic steering even with a
hardover time of 20 seconds. The flow-rate, however, is reduced
by increasing load, i.e. increased pressure. "

I looked up the BA150 cylinder and it gives a value of 6 seconds hard over to hard over in the installation manual

Do you know if my cylinder and and autopilot pump will steer well being that the hard over time is less than specified

Thank you

Which autopilot do you have? AP24 and AP44 will automatically adjust to the optimum hard over time.

Then you don't have to worry about hard over time. Just do the dockside commissioning with a fully charged battery and the engine running to make sure the voltage during hard over calibration is the same as when the pilot will be used.
