Default anyone familiar with simrad auto pilot installs?

I have a Simrad RPU80 pump and simrad NAC-2 auto pilot computer and trying to fathom why the 2 wires coming out of the pump are 4 times the size of the wires coming out of the "drive" side pigtail on the computer. am I missing something?

The dimensioning of the wires is based on voltage drop, not current capacity. The short wire coming out of NAC-2 pigtail is capable of carrying the current and the wire gauge is probably defined by the size of the contact points of the pins in the connector.

If you have to extend the wires coming from RPU80 use wires with similar or larger gauge than the ones attached to the RPU80.
