Default Simrad evo 3 chart issues

I have a Evo 3 9 in a new Key Wesr 230 BR. From the very beginning the position of the boat was 60-70 yards from it's true position to the SW. Finally had the time to call their tech support. They had me change several settings with no improvement. Then his statement was priceless. "We buy the charts from a vendor and are not responsible for the errors " He went on to say that I could buy other charting systems and it should fix the problem, he suggested Navico Platmum would be one.

I was not happy and asked how they could sell something that could result in going aground, He didn't answer me, very poor attitude. I did purchase the Navico card and it fixed everything. By the way I like everything else about the unit.

sounds like an install problem like the heading/compass sensor might need to be recalibrated.

if you are in rural areas the maps might suck. not much you can do. it would probably cost millions or billions to map the whole country accurately

some maped areas are probably still based on surveys from 50+ years ago. look at the info date on some paper maps. you might be surprised how old the data is. which means old equipment and ways of doing it

does it have a built in heading sensor, or is that a separate unit?
