Default is it necessary to have garmin bluechart

I do inshore fishing in So. California and I currently have a Garmin 44dv with blue chart. But I was looking at the Helix 5 DI that does not have blue chart.
So is it necessary to have garmin bluechart ?

bluechart is a garmin product for garmin plotters. the hummerbird would either come with it's own charting , or you'd have to buy charts for it. (navionics) the garmin one will not work in it.
