Default New Simrad Evo2 NSO/NSS Update

Software version 7.0-58.1.94 was just released
There is a teaser about the Yamaha Command Link Plus integration, but I did not get the feature unlock option yet. There is also notice of a S5100 update to software 2.0, but it is not public on their site yet.

There are some cool new graphics on the main page selection area as well as some minor changes to the layout.

It fixed my issue of not being able to control my AP28/AC42 from the left data bar. It still needs work, but at least the option is there.

I will play with it more tomorrow and update any other cool features I see. The release notes are not up yet.

For the Yamaha integration to work you need the referenced gateway with a Feb 2017 or later mfg date

Ugh! I replaced my old gateway 3/25/2017 with 6Y9-8A2D0-40-00KIT. I assume the correct one now would be: 6YG-8A2D0-00-00.

It should be noted that you need more than just the Gateway, you have to have either the "combination of Gateway (6YG-8A2D0-00-00) AND a Yamaha 6Y9 Gauge" OR the Yamaha CL7 Gauge.

Just clarify for you guys running the Gateway and/or the 6Y8 (round guages) it won't work...according to Simrad.

The new graphics he's referring to are the same as the Evo 3's Home page. Below is the NSS 16 evo2 on our Demo boat with the upgraded software. Notice the new "power" button in the lower right side of the screen and the new "settings" button in the upper left corner.

Also here is the compatibility page for the Yamaha integration

Download the update from Simrad website to a sd card. with the unit off, insert the card into either card slot. turn the power on and the ubit should auto-update and reboot itself.

Default Evo2 update

I'm buying a new unit. Does this update include all the previous updates?

What do we gain from the old gateway other than a fancy logo and trolling settings? My MFD has all the Yamaha gauges and fuel this has with a memory module installed.

I believe one of the main gains is that you could have a simple second station without a Yamaha Command Plus screen. I do not think the Simrad Instruments screen was very friendly for triples. Otherwise, I agree it is not much more than a fancy screen.

So we have the CL7 having upgraded to Helm Master Plus. We figured we would try to hook up without the Gateway as has been mentioned in the NSO 58.1.94 software release instructions. Ran a NMEA2000 cable from CL7 to Simrad T connector stack and connected through the recommended DC isolator. No engine data. Went back to the gateway arrangement with the Yamaha Gateway tied to Yamaha Buss and to the Simrad Buss and it works. So the promised Gateway function in the CL7 is an issue. In the CL7 I do have NMEA2000 interface enabled The CL7 appears to be running version 8,8 of their software. I attached my handy Maretron tester to network and see traffic on the Simrad buss, and no traffic on the Yamaha. Next step I guess is to try my Maretron analyzer. Any other suggestions would be appreciated...

i have the NSS 12 Evo 3. When I go into settings it checks the entire network and installs updates in any device as long as you have a chip for it to download the files.

Does the NSS 12 Evo 2 have Wifi? If yes just power up and connect to WIFI check in the settings. There may be a list of all devices and update status. If not then you will need to download to chip as previously stated.

We had Simrad and Yamaha factory reps on our boat today. The CL7 gateway function works well (without an external gateway) The big change to the instructions is you should not use a NMEA2000 power isolator if the CL7 NMEA200 buss does not have a external power source. IE if connecting the CL7 NMEA2000 port to the SImrad NMEA2000 with a the power isolator it will cause the CL7 to not display engine data

Will this work with the 6Y8 square gauges? If so what do I need to buy to hook it up.

Only the CL7 currently has a built in gateway
