Default Will the SteadyCast heading sensor work with Garmin 42XX or 52XX series plotters?

Garmin's write up on the SteadyCast heading sensor says
"SteadyCast heading sensor installs easily with NMEA 2000® plug-and-play interface and a simple 2-step precision calibration process for compatible Garmin chartplotters, Basic calibration for Garmin echoMAP™ models and other NMEA 2000 displays is also supported
This suggests that it will work with non Garmin products.

I have a Garmin 5208 and an NMEA 2000 network. I am wondering whether the fact that the 42XX and 52XX series are not on Garmin's list of compatible units means it won't work at all with the 5208 or only means that it will work but you won't be able to do the simple 2-step calibration process and that you have to calibrate it as generic NMEA 2000 display?

Anybody using a SteadyCast with a 42XX or 52XX?
