Default Garmin GPS 541s Antenna Wire Insulation Broken

While replacing my top, I noticed that my GPS antenna wire's outer insulation is broken right next to the the antenna. I would normally just splice such a break, but it doesn't have enough room before it goes into the plastic "mushroom top" antenna.

Can I take the antenna apart? If not, are there reasonably priced replacements that work?

I would try to slip some heat shrink over it if possible

Can you just use the built in antenna while you look for a GA38? Might advertise for one on here.

Why not just get a new BNC connector? Cut the cable and put on a new BNC TWIST-ON FOR RG59.
Simple fix for under $5.00.

The break is too near the antenna, but I will cut the wire downstream, slip on some heatshrink and put on a new connector. Thanks all, for your ideas!

Take a close look at your antenna. Does it come apart? I have a newer one and the top half comes off the pole mount base. If the base comes off you should be able to just replace the BNC connector
