Default Navionics chip to micro sd?

Can it be done? I was given a navionics chip but my simrad on takes the micro sd. I'm guessing it won't show the information correctly once transferred

It must be real old one to not have a micro chip at all. Are you sure its not a micro sd inside an adapter?

The micro SD in SD adapter was introduced mid 2011.

No, I don't believe you will be able to transfer the charting data from the Navionics card to a different card due to proprietary security SW or code to prevent copying.

As others suggest, if yours is a full size SD card check that Navionics card carefully to see if there is a relatively tiny Micro SD card inside the SD adapter which is they way they have been sold for 6-7 ? yrs (=Abbor).

If it is not an SD card or adapter, you might try calling Navionics to see if you can trade & pay for an update on a new microSD card when the original is not registered to you .

The larger SD adapter is handy for online updating using the little Navionics card reader supplied with new mSD-inside-SD adapter card purchases. ( That reader takes the adapter size.)

I wouldn't recommend trying to copy to another micro sd card. The navionics cards are encrypted protected from being copied. I would recommend possibly selling the card you have now or just biting the bullet and upgrading to a new nav+ card. One big thing you will get out of getting a new card is the ability to update the card and gain the freshest data. There are tons of daily updates that go into the charts and keeping them updated is a nice tool to be able to use instead of having outdated charts running in your chart plotter.

It's probably possible to upgrade to micro-SD for a fee which is 50% of a new card.

I would take advantage of getting the new chart at 50% off plus you will get 1 year free updates of freshest data.
