Default Evo2 vs Evo3

Checked out both the evo2 and 3 side by side today. Understand the the 3 has a clearer screen with polarized glasses and the viewing angle is better. What are any other meaningful differences? In the store, couldn't tell much difference with screen reading quality.
The evo 2 has about half as many buttons, I kind of like that because of the simplicity of the design.
Is there much difference in the sonar capability using the structure scan ducer between the two? Thanks

Fully functional with the rotary knob and buttons, the screen, and the dual band sonar

evo3 has built in wifi along with dual band sonar and better screen. Probably a quicker processor too, but I use the Evo2 and it is satisfactory for everything I need it for.

For the 12" models the screen resolution is the same. For the three other models Evo3 have better resolution.

If you don't need dual channel CHIRP, it's difficult to justify NSS12 Evo3. I have the two 12" models side by side.

For the other models the screen resolution makes Evo3 very attractive. I have upgraded a HDS-7 Gen3 to Carbon and the difference in screen resolution (480x800 vs 600x1024) is huge, and In my opinion worth the upgrade cost. Gen3 is using the same screen as Evo2 and Carbon and Evo3 have the same screens.

Thanks for the replies. In the store the EVO3 screen did look "clearer". Not sure that justifies the bump in price, even though the evo3 does have more non touch screen features.
Manituc, I'm fishing out of St Lucie...what transducer are you using and at what depths?

Lss2 thruhull and airmar chirp thruhull b150 I think, the basic one. I get bottom to at least 700', but don't go that far often.

Now is the time if you are looking at new electronics for sure. With the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show starting there will be some great deals from all of the brands. In addition many vendors including us will be selling display units to make room for the latest released gear. I know we have a few Evo2 units coming out of our displays.

If an Evo 3 12” display is $3499 on the web, what kind of discounts or pricing would there be at the Fort Laud boat show? Curious as we are about to swap out for newer electronics and going w/ the Evo 3s.

Manufacturers dont allow us to post up pricing for some units. There will be specials at the show for sure. It will be worth it to call of come by during the show.

The Evo3 screen is really nice, but certainly not a deal breaker on the Evo2.

Now if you fish up N in MA (picture from Sunday) , the extra buttons are really handy

I have both in 12" screens. I think the price difference is not worth getting the Evo3 if you want a 12".
