Default Simrad GO12 XSE and GO7 XSR

Simrad has introduced GO12 XSE and GO7 XSR

Information available at the Simrad site

http://www.simrad-yachting.com/en-US...cer_en-us.aspx

GO12 XSE is the 12" version of GO9 XSE, it has the same processor system and touch screen as NSS Evo2. It has an Ethernet connector which is for radar and satellite weather (US only). It has two micro SD slots at the back.

GO7 XSR is the 7" of the same. The difference between GO7 XSR and XSE is that XSR has radar port and will flush mount glass bridge style without a mounting kit. GO7 XSR has a single micro SD card.

The two new units have excellent GPS performance, they have a horizontal GPS board at the top back similar to NSS Evo2. These units together with NSS Evo2 have the best GPS carrier to noise ratio I've seen for any MFD (45-46 dB)

A couple of GO12 XSE screen shots. Transducer is B60, testing done in saltwater.

It's exactly the same screen as NSS Evo2, so I assume it's 16:10 widescreen.

Did they add a Video/Nema 0183 port to the GO 12 by any chance?

Resolution is 1280x800 as all other newer 12" MFD's. The 7" unit has 800x480 resolution. Screen quality is very good, it's exactly the same screens which are used in the later NSS Evo2 units.

In the Specifcations for GO12 XSE and GO7 XSR the following is written:

Ethernet 1 x 5 pin yellow connector x 1 Mbit. Radar and Sirius (USA only) connectivity only (unless unlocked)

Note, the unless unlocked. Combine this with information from NSS Evo2 5.0-57.1.207 release information

Feature unlock
Additional functionality and features can now be purchased and can be unlocked on the Multifunction Display using the new Feature Unlock menu item under Settings. (This is only visible when a compatible device is connected)

Sounds like it will be possible to pay for unlocking full networking capabilities for the GO XSE and XSR series with Ethernet connectors.

Any ideas on prices or release date for these two?
A GO12 sounds perfect for my use.

Edit: $2300..... I was hoping for <$2000

That's the RRP with the transducer (taken from the link above).
Maybe the actual selling price will be $1999

Was looking at the GO9 XSE but may be changing my mind, seems like a pretty decent upgrade?

Going from 9 to 12 is a really nice jump. The price for the 3 inches is very reasonable!

Godd afternoon Abbor, any feedback on this ethernet "unlocking" possibility, would GO7 XSR be able to connect to a BSM/S5100 and display sonar? For the price of the GO7 XSR seems it would be a nice repeater to place in a remote location of the boat to watch independetly of the main unit.
