Default New Electronics Recommendations

Hi All - Buying a new boat and need advice on electronics. I've been out of boating for a decade, so I don't have a clue what to get. I'd like to spend no more than 4K on a setup, and would like to get radar, fish finder, vhf, big screen, etc.
I'd love to hear opinions on the different brands and models.
Thanks!!!

With your budget in mind you can find a small Garmin all in one MFD that would do a lot of what you are looking for but you can not get all for under 4K unless you get a not so big screen. 8-10" maybe but not much more to stay within your budget.

Im between a 245DC Sailfish, a 265DC Pursuit or a 285DC Grady White. Separate thread on that decision looking for advice.

On your other questions - For birds and safety, and likely up to 30 miles offshore. Not sure what side scan does for me... open to all suggestions!

To meet your 4K budget is going to be very hard unless you buy used equipment. Not sure how you have a 4 k budget and don't even know what boat your buying yet?

Open array
12" mfd
Vhf
Correct transducer and box to run it
Proper installation alone could cost you 1/2 your budget or a lot more depending on what boat you purchase. If buying new I would suggest letting dealer install. If buying used hull good luck

Get a big screen. Forget radar for now. Double your budget and install an autopilot.

The Simrad Go12 xse would certainly help you keep the budget down.

Look into the Simrad GO9 XSE Bundle. Chartplotter, Side Scan, Transducer, Radar (3G or 4G which 4G is about $400-$500 more), Navionics Mapping & more. Should be able to purchase the entire setup for $2500. Depending on if you're Overlaying Radar, you'll need to get a few extras but I have the same System and Installed I'm right around $4K. Just a thought. Good luck👍

Your wish list - 12-16" MFD, 4' Open array radar (minimum for birding), good FF with Chirp and transducer, VHF radio is $8-10k in equipment plus another $1,500-2,000 for the install.
For $4k, you are looking at a 9-10" MFD with built in fishfinder, an 18" radome radar plus a VHF Radio

You have many choices just like you do in your boat search. If it were me I would get two screens and network them and set up my system like that. So really depends on the boat you get and what space you have to mount and where you are going to mount. Kinda like putting the horse and the cart together. Find the boat that works best for you we are here to help you set it up once you get it.
