Default simrad 4G with NSS8

Anyone running a Simrad 4G radar with original NSS8? I recently purchased this radar and will be installing soon. Just curious if others are using this set up. Planning to upgrade to the Evo2 or 3 at some point but for now I have this set up. Any tips if so? I will be mounting this radar on a forward leaning 6" pedestal. I just have to figure out the degree I need. My boat is a 23' CC with canvas T Top.

I used 4G with the original NSS until this spring. Don't support dual range radar, except for this it works very well.

Abbor,
Thanks for the info. Just wanted to add radar for the NSS8 so I believe it will be fine. Planning to upgrade my simrad unit sometime within the next year or so.

I used NSS12, but I have a friend which I fish together sometimes with NSS8 and 3G radar. I think this 8.4" screen in 4:3 format with 800x600 is a good radar screen. A NSS8 will offer exactly the same radar functionality as the Lowrance topmodel HDS Carbon with 4G.

Thanks Abbor.
My radar dome will be mounted on a 6" pedestal but will be between two VHF antenas which are 8' long. Will this affect it's performance? I don't have anywhere else to move these antennas.

Thanks for your help.

The diameter of the VHF antenna is very small compared to the horizontal beam width so this is not a problem.

Due to the low 4G transmit power it won't cause any problems the VHF either.
