Default Looking for 10" combo unit

Looks like I will put new electronics on the boat this winter. Current setup is a Garmin 3210 / GSD22 / B164 / transom mount cheapie ducer / 24" radar dome / with an old Lowrance 7" unit next to it. I navigate and use the sounder on the Garmin and use the Lowrance unit as an engine data display.

Everything is going to heck. I started the labor day weekend by catching the radar dome on a tree branch and I broke / ruined it. Either the B164 or the GSD 22 is bad because I don't get sonar from it. I plugged a $50 transom mount ducer into it and it work fine. The Lowrance unit, I have to smack it for the page or up arrow button to work. It also occasionally has the screen go crazy with static and lines. The Lowrance unit also puts out so much EMI that it messes up my FM and VHF receiving if it is on.

Basically, I need new stuff. I am not replacing the radar as I rarely used it anyhow so I just need navigation / sonar / and NMEA2k for engine data. I want the sonar and GPS antenna to be internal to the unit. I am excited about getting rid of the GSD 22, network hub, external GPS antenna and all the cabling that goes with it.

I am a fan of Garmin and Furuno. Not a fan of Lowrance. After using my $700+ dollar B164 versus my $50 transom mount on the same places, I see that the B164 is a waste for me. The B164 did show slightly better in 400ft of water but I spend the vast majority of my time in 80-270ft and I see the same spots and same fish with both ducers. I also have used a couple of sidescans and down views and chirp transducers and they have all been pretty useless and actually worse than traditional sonar in my experience. So I am not really interested in those either.

This brings me to the Garmin 1040xs. Seems to fit the bill. Is there anything else that I should consider? I didn't see anything on the Furuno site and I don't keep up with marine electronics too much, I just use them.

on edit. I am looking at the garmin site now and they have a lot of 10" screen units but the price seems to vary a lot. I am not dead sure what the difference in them is.

The Garmin 1040xs when used with the traditional CHIRP sonar is excellent.

Used with the B75 or even better the B175 if going deeper.

Thanks for the reply. That look like the best bet. I wouldn't mind having wifi but it seems that everything with wifi is double the money. From what I have seen, I prefer traditional sonar over CHIRP and it looks like this unit supports both.

edit: looking again, it does seem like this has wifi?

1040xs does have wifi. you can use your B164 with it and should see improved performance as the GSD22 was a lousy sounder.

Cool. Thanks. I have read that the GSD22 was lousy but aside from one unit completely crapping out on my (which I exchanged with Garmin for a refurb for like $100) I was happy with the GSD22.

I mostly fish and dive in the 80-220ft range and had no problems marking things as small as a single rock the size of a basketball or a single tire.
