Default Lowrance HDS 12 Gen 3 deepwater Transducer Needed

Hello I have a Lowrance HDS 12 Gen3 looking to buy a 1k chirp TM transducer for offshore fishing 300-800ft. I have thought about upgrading to the HDS 12 Carbon bc of the dual chirp frequency, but not sure if it is worth the $.

Additionally, does the 3D structure scan work well in deep water? Is it as cool as they show?

Thanks

TM185M will be the best transducer for you.

StructureScan 3D is not suited for deep water fishing.

IMHO HDS-12 Carbon isn't worth 1200 more than Evo3 unless you plan to run a dual channel CHIRP transducer, but you already have a Carbon and don't plan for a dual channel transducer.

If you are fishing mostly bottom then the TM185C-M.....or if fishing in the water column and not so much bottom.....the TM185C-HW would be my own preference.

Thank you Abbor for your response, I was asking if the Carbon is worth the 1200 more than the HDS12 Gen3 model. i hear the Carbon is much faster, pushes Chirp, so you can use a regular transducer and push chirp signal thru it and has the better capability to see screen bc of the anti glare screen when wearing polarize glasses.

The screens are better for sure. The CHIRP performance is the same. For all other sizes than 12" Carbon have better resolution than Gen3, since the resolution is the same I think it's difficult to justify the price difference. If most of the fishing is done with sunglasses the screen without polarization filter can be worth the premium. We don't have that much sun where I'm living and I'm mostly fishing in low light conditions so for me the sunglass friendly screen don't bring much value.

I haven't noticed Evo3 and Carbon being much faster than Evo2 and Gen3, they are all fast in my opinion.
