Default Yamaha F150 Trim gauge installed question

Its been a while since I'm here but finally got a new boat. 2017 Tidewater 196 DC. Has the Yamaha Pro series white gauges and I added in a Trim gauge , it was plug and play all the wires (pink for the trim gauge) for the gauge were already in the harness under the console. With key on and engine running either on or off the gauge only reads full up position. When I rotate the trim sender at the engine the gauge does not move and still stays in the full trim up position with key on. Do I have a bad sender or somthing else not connected. Called Yamaha tech support they say I have it connected properly. Has anyone else experiance this?
Thanks for any help.

You probably need to calibrate the gauge. Check your owners manual. If I remember correctly, you put the motor all the way down and then press the button sequences given in the manual telling the electronics that the motor is fully down.
