Default Lowrance Transducers

Boaters, Captains and helpful people:
I have an 2011 Lowrance HD Gen Two and my sonar is not working properly at times.
I have SS, DSI, and Sonar screens.
The SS and DSI transducer is mounted on my jack plate and work normal as it did new.
Sonar transducer is epoxied in and is shoot thru the hull setup and worked well until last year.
Both Transducers are cabled to LSS 1 Box ( Black Box)
HD unit cabled to LSS 1 Box.
Sonar losing bottom lock while underway and no depth display, mostly in deeper water. Also in shallow water, less than three feet, sonar display locks up on shallow depth and will not change display even when moving to deep water. Shutting unit off and on seems to fix sonar display most of the time, until moving back to shallow water. Locks up again
Question: Sonar transducer going bad? Installed in 2011
Question: Best replacement type?
Lowrance P79-BL Pro's and Con's ( epoxied to Hull )
Thru Hull mounting type is an option I like but the cost is so high on an fix buget! Is it worth the cost? I mostly fish water 50' or less but travel in 150' water somethings.
Airman B175 HW Wide ( 20* cone) ?
Also my Gen Two does not have Chirp but may update HD unit in the future. Just can't replace until it goes bad or my ship comes in!
Thank you for your guidance !
Best of fishing days to you!

For only 150' and less...the P79 would be a postive option for the Gen 2.
