Default Trying to learn a new I pilot remote

Have a minn kota riptide ST 80 with ipilot. Remote won't charge anymore so I'm trying to use my remote for my other boat that has a minn kota riptide ST 55. I can't get the ST 80 to learn the ST 55 remote. I tried holding down the learn button on the trolling motor and then turning the remote on but it doesnt do anything.

Also, since the 55 trolling motor works fine, can I just take the 80 off my boat and replace it with the 55 as a temporary fix? The 80 is a 24 volt and the 55 is a 12 volt. I have no idea if that is something that can be done or not. I don't know.

You will kill something on your 12 volt trolling motor trying to run it off of 24 volts unless you rewire the batteries to 12 volts.

I kindof figured. We found the same rechargeable battery in one of my sons remote controls. So we used that over the weekend. Have to take it out of the remote to charge it but it works!

Rewrire it for 12v but that 55# on the pathfinder will be worthless if any type of wind or current
