Default Vhf wires

I had to pull my VHF down out of the box today and tighten up some screws that was holding the bracket and I noticed there were two wires coming out of the back of the CV that were not connected. Are they supposed to be? It could have always been like this as this is the first time I've really had to pull it out since I've on the boat. What is that? I'm headed out about 35 miles tomorrow I just want to make sure that I'm good to go. I'm assuming it's never been connected to anything

It probably wasn't

Ideally it would be connected to gps. And you apply for an mmsi number for the radio. without those 2 things. The distress button is useless

What model radio? Does it have built-in GPS?

In the image you have linked to, I see eight wires. Consult the operating manual for the radio to discover the function of those eight wires. They should be clearly identified in the manual and instructions about their use given there.

What is a CV? I am not familiar with "CV" as an acronym associated with VHF Marine Band radios. Please explain.

How would anyone besides you know how the VHF is wired? Amazing you'd go 35 miles offshore and not know how the VHF is wired.

I also had no idea what OP meant with "CV"....maybe I'm just out of touch...but, and no offense meant, OP seemed fairly clueless. To me, "CV" acronym only means "curriculum vitae", equivalent to a résumé.

More info, please, and when in doubt, RTFM! Generally downloadable if original has gone missing.

CV was a typo. It was supposed to say unit I'm not sure how it got inserted.
