Default Garmin Homeport on Mac crashing constantly

I'm running Garmin 2.2.10 (latest version) on Mac OS X 10.12.6 (also latest version) and getting constant random crashes. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a workaround?

I'm running the same versions of both, no crashes.

My gripe is, Google seems to have updated my Google Earth to Google Earth "Pro" without my knowledge -

now when I try to "view current chart area in Google Earth" Homeport tells me "Google Earth could not be opened"

Thanks. Hate it when it's just me. Already reinstalled the app after deleting all the preference files. Ugh.

FYI - I think I found the workaround. Find the app in in the Applications Folder in the Finder, click on it and go to the File/Get Info menu. Tick the "Open in Low Resolution" option.

I had same problem with HomePort crashing on my iMac. The workaround of setting to "Open in Low Resolution" worked. Thanks to jtcwhaler for finding this.

I have the same problem with Garmin Homeport and also with Garmin Basecamp.

If you want to see if you get it try making a new route and try to move the place in the chart at the same time.

I’ve just changed my Mac and maybe this problem has to do with Retina display Macs as I don’t recall having this problem with my previous non Retina display Mac also with the last High Sierra version.

I’ll try that workaround.

Upgraded my iMac 6 months ago to 2017 w/Retina and Sierra...but had same issues with HomePort crashing. Now have High Sierra 10.13.1 and had same crashes. The low resolution workaround seems to have fixed it.

It's a miracle. The crashes had driven me to use my Windows partition to run Homeport on my Mac. It would not go 2 minutes without freezing or crashing. The low res mode fixed it.

Glad I was able to help. I still get an occasional crash, but no where near the previous frequency...
