Default HDS Gen 3 12 vs Carbon 9

Sorry folks for another comparison of MFD’s but I have the “stimulating the economy” bug right now and looking at the following: HDS Gen 3 12 or HDS Carbon 9
I mainly fish inshore southern California, don’t chase tuna or go offshore in my small boat unless they are within 15 miles. I am sticking to Lowrance only bc of the interfacing with the Xi. I would opt for the structure scan package (standard sonar 83/215, downscan, sidescan 455/800)
Appears the Gen 3 has CHIRP on the upper 215 frequency, and if I wanted I could have dual channel CHIRP, with a software upgrade.
Besides the dual channel chirp, processor and glass screen is there anything else that the Carbon 9 has over the gen 3 12? My local WM only has a 9” GEN3 and Carbon on display. I played with them a bit, and I like the crispy view of the carbon vs the gen3.
I could use the extra real estate, would probably set it up with 4 screens; GPS, standard sonar, DI and SI.
Comment away.

In this case the 3 inches is hard to ignore. When running in split screen on a wide screen format, go as large as possible.

Exept for dual channel CHIRP and the screen the performance is very similar so go for the larger screen.

I moved from a 9 to a 12 on my boat a few months ago. The 12 is a significant upgrade and substantially easier to see details on.

Clearly as spoken here the 12 would be your best choice. On the counsel had to drop to a 9 to provide room a 1159 HB for map. It is doing the job but struggle with on structure scan side view

Thanks for all the input. I just bit the bullet and ordered the 12

Got the gateway for the trolling motor too! Can't wait to look for rocks underwater and then use the trolling motor to hover over the rock. If I find them
