Default Garmin Video playback

I'm getting a new 24" Garmin unit-
The manual discusses that that unit can play normal video- but I'm curious if anyone knows exactly how it works. Can I save movies on my iPad, then play them thru onboard WiFi? Or do I need to install a DVD player?

Thanks for the assist-

I have a hard time recommending a DVD player in 2017... I have Blu-Ray player aboard that has never seen a disc.

Your MFD will probably have an HDMI and a BNC input?

If you have discs or access to them and you're springing for a 24" MFD (wow btw!), you could install a Fusion AV750, which would provide video input to your MFD, sound to your speakers and integration/control of the Fusion on the MFD.

I use an AppleTV for the TV and split the signal from the DirecTV receiver to the MFD. AppleTV is really nice to have and the latest edition with the RF remote is awesome, but introduces the whole discussion of internet and WiFi...

You can use a physical adapter from the iPad to HDMI to the MFD and then maybe bluetooth for audio, but that's low on the wow-factor for an investment like a 24" Garmin.
