Default Humminbird Helix 7 shutting off and heating up

I think my 2 year old Helix 7 SI/gps died. It was shutting off from time to time and I figured it was the spade connector on my fuse panel. Removed it last month and cleaned it all up. All was fine.

Last weekend, it did it again...and then the screen started acting stupid during the eclipse. We laughed it off....and just let it stay turned off.

Later I touched it and it was burning hot !

Naturally, I unplugged it, and since the trip was almost over and I knew where I was fishing the last day, didnt use it.

Is this a common issue? It's been flawless up until a month ago.

Yeah, I'm wondering just how bad the power problem was...(if any)...and if the arcing caused it. If so...it's my fault. If not....well....

It's funny that none of my other connections were bad. ( vhf, etc.)

I just bought a skiff and it has the Helix 7. Hadn't even used it yet, but, not sounding promising....Best of luck.
